The IRS has approved the Van Horn Foundation's request for 501c3 status. With this 501c3 designation, Van Horn will have the opportunity to receive more funding for several of its innitiatives.
The Van Horn EDC has announced its purchase of the Willis building, in the Main Street District, to house the retail incubator concept prensented by AdventGX. Once open, the store will sell regionally produced items. The retail center is set to open later this year.
November 6-7, Van Horn will host the Rural Economic and Tourism Development Seminar put on by AdventGX and TEEX. The seminar will bring together community leaders from throughout the region to find solutions for issues facing West Texas today. More information will be coming soon about the seminar.

Representatives met with Texas A&M's Director of Professional Development, Dr. Tony Brown and Rudy Ruettiger, famed Notre Dame football player, to devise a strategy for a rural leadership development seminar series.
Van Horn will be host to the Texas Mountain Art Seminar, Show & Sale from November 11-17th. The event will feature a small business seminar for artists, as well as an art show and sale featuring artwork from the region. Speakers for the event will include Ellie Myer, Carol Fairlie, and Wayne Baize.
The Texas Commission on the Arts granted special funding to support the inaugural Texas Mountain Art Seminar Show and Sale which was attended by artists and art enthusiasts from throughout far west Texas. The Semiar included session by accomplished artist and professor Carol Fairlie of Sul Ross University,;Ellen Meyer (insert bio info here); Jose Quintana, an accomplished entrepreneur and web marketing consultant; and a keynote presentation by West Texas artist Hugh Campbell.

- forming micro-enterprises and technology startups
- creating and fomenting Van Horn's entrepreneurial culture
- upholding the small community values cherished by its citizens
- leveraging technology for the benefit of its citizens and guests
- inspiring leadership and innovation among its citizens
Now, we are embracing the abundant natural and historical assets in our region and building a vibrant future for our community and our region through a deliberate, opportunistic and entrepreneurial economic development project called Project 7.
